How To Book A Wedding Band

With all the other details of a wedding to worry about, a band or DJ takes a bit of thought. To make sure the tunes played are to you and your guests liking, here are some issues to keep in mind may help to make sure whoever you chose is the best possible choice.
A portable music player, i.e. an IPOD may seem like a great idea at your wedding, but before you bring it along, you may want to rethink doing so. The old saying, 'Anything that can go wrong, will', can rear it's ugly head on your wedding day. What if something goes wrong with your portable music player on your big day? You and your guests will have no tunes to dance to. That's one less responsibility you will want to deal with on your big day. If you decide to do you own music, its best to leave to a trusted other person in attendance as a backup plan. However it's probably not the best of ideas, to use a portable music player as the main way of delivering your music on that day.
Some people may think that cover bands are not the way to go to at weddings. However pulling up some old classics, or reliable standbys, can make for wonderful new memories, and bring back some old memories from years gone by. Some might wonder if it would be better to just have a DJ to spin records, versus a band. Bands usually bring about a more lively atmosphere to a wedding. They also have a lead singer, who stands out above the other members of the band. The stand-out role, can also act as an event coordinator. So in essence a band brings about the best of both worlds, a DJ and a band.
You should chose the style of the band to coincide with the style of the wedding. For instance, if your guests are attired in formal ware like tuxedos, perhaps a band that plays jazz and swing or chamber music may be a good fit. A good rule of thumb is the less formal your wedding theme is, the less formal your band selection should be.
You should make sure that you have a say-so on what specific songs you want played at the wedding. You may want to include specific songs you have in mind when you interview potential bands for the wedding. Make sure you and the band are on the same proverbial page, regarding including your particular favorites in the bands songs that will be played. If the band is not open to your specific requests at the wedding, they may not be the best possible fit for you.
You want a band that has their own style, but is more then willing to incorporate your favorite must have songs, at the wedding. It's your day after all, whether it's your wedding or you are just planning it for someone else.
